We bought the 4moms Mamaroo Baby Rocker when our daughter was barely a month old and it was one of the best purchases we made at the time. It is a really great rocker and worked well for naps and for morning quiet time – giving me time to get on with some bits and pieces around the house.
The 4moms Mamaroo is a very good quality baby rocker that mimics the movements of parents so your baby can be soothed by rocking in a more natural motion. It has three recline positions and is suitable from newborn upwards to about 9kg or when your baby can sit unaided, so it could be sooner. There is a 3 point harness and the cover is removable and washable.
There are five different speeds and five unique motions which are all just variations of rocking in different directions. You can also use the sounds that are like white noise such as ocean, heart beat and wind etc. You can even connect your mp3 phone or player to play your own soothing music through the speakers.
You can even use bluetooth and the mobile app to control the movements and speed of the rocker.
You can buy a newborn insert separately which makes the chair more comfortable and snug for a fresh one.
What makes the 4moms Mamaroo Baby Rocker good?
There are a lot of bells and whistles on this rocker and to be honest, you can’t ask for much more. It’s really comfortable and our daughter regularly fell asleep easily in this chair. It’s design means the baby is almost hanging in a hammock type seat which makes it super relaxing for a baby.
Our daughter loved sitting in this in front of us on the sofa as she could just watch us for ages – and eventually drift off because of the white noise and motions.
The motions are really good and it isn’t too loud so it doesn’t make excessive noise while you’re trying to get your little one off to sleep. Our daughter had her morning quiet time in this chair for a long time (until we got the Tiny Love Rocker Napper) and she enjoyed all her time in this chair.
The soft plush toys that come with the rocker that hang above the seat are very good too – they’re ideal for newborns and younger babies because they are very bold and black and white – great for a really young baby.
The noises and sounds are good – we regularly used the white noise to help our daughter drift off.
What makes the 4moms Mamaroo bad?
To be honest, there aren’t that many bad points to this product. However, the Bluetooth app is completely pointless.
Why you would ever need to control the motions and speed with your phone, I don’t know. Talk about lazy?! You wouldn’t ever leave baby unattended in this thing so why would you need such a function? We never used it except to test it and then laughed and never used it again.
You should be able to play music through Bluetooth. Having to plug in an mp3 player seems a little dated and given the price of this thing, you’d expect to be able to connect via Bluetooth and play music through the speakers – the Bluetooth option is there and working, they just haven’t implemented it as a feature which is silly and a big oversight in my view.
The speaker quality could have been better. When we did plug in one of our phones to play lullaby’s it was so tinny sounding that we unplugged and just played it through the phone speakers – which were better quality. You’d think that something bigger would afford better speakers than a smart phone but apparently not.
Other than those small issues, we found the 4moms Mamaroo Baby Rocker to be a great purchase. We used it regularly and one other bonus is that they tend to keep their value quite well. We resold ours on Facebook when our daughter had outgrown it and didn’t lose much money at all – always a bonus.
Overall thoughts on the 4moms Mamaroo Baby Rocker
To be honest, there are some features it’s missing and for the price tag you’d think they would be there. However, I’d still recommend it just because the motions and speed options as well as the comfort of the seat itself meant our daughter absolutely loved it. She was always very comfortable and at ease in this seat – and she loved staring at the toys. She would go in it every morning without fail and for that reason I would definitely recommend it.
