I spent ages looking for a decent high chair for my little one. I was set on the Fisher Price 4 in 1 High Chair as soon as I saw it. My daughter had other Fisher Price things (the Jumperoo for example) and she loves the rainforest animals so this seemed like the ideal purchase.
It’s a high chair that can also be a booster seat, a toddler table and chair and a toddler seat. If you want something that’s going to be versatile and last longer than the standard high chairs do then this is your best bet. We have already transferred our daughter from the high chair to the booster seat. It was easier for us to have her on the dining chair in a booster seat rather than the larger high chair so we moved her when she was just over a year old.
The seat itself has a 3 point harness which is enough for most but some may prefer a 5 point harness. There is a removable and washable seat pad also.
The feeding tray is also dishwasher safe – although we rarely put it in the dishwasher, we just wipe it down.
When our daughter is older we have every intention of using the table and chair as a learn and play set. She can do her painting or play on the table and sit in the chair. I like that we’ll be using this beyond her just eating in it. It made it feel like a more important purchase.
What makes the Fisher Price 4 in 1 High Chair bad?
The downsides are that it doesn’t fold up so it does take up quite a bit of space. One of the biggest reasons we moved to the booster seat was because the legs of the high chair were taking up too much space in our kitchen/diner. We found the transition easy though and to be honest, she could have gone to the booster seat much earlier. They recommend not using the booster seat until a child can sit unaided. Our daughter could sit unaided at 7 months or so but we didn’t move her until she was over a year – in hindsight we could have moved her much earlier.
The other downside is the fact that there is only a 3 point harness. It’s enough to keep our daughter contained – and every pub high chair I’ve ever seen has only a 3 point harness and this seems to work fine. The 5 point harnesses on other chairs do give that extra piece of mind but it wasn’t a deal breaker for us. She’s never unattended in it anyway so it shouldn’t be an issue for most.
What makes the Fisher Price 4 in 1 High Chair good?
The main selling point for us was the fact we can use it for a longer time than a normal high chair. It transforms into a play table and chair which we know our daughter will love using when she’s older. It’ll give her somewhere to do her colouring or playing at a table and she’ll feel comfortable in a chair she’s been using for a long time.
It’s also super easy to convert from one thing to another. The legs of the chair and the table just pop in and out and you can change it depending on your circumstances at the time. For example, if we had more space, she’d probably still be in the high chair but we changed to the booster because we were slightly low on space.
The height is great – she is perfect height at the table in the booster seat and when it was the high chair the table would go over ours which meant she could be closer to us. One of the things that irritates me about our spare Mothercare Apple High Chair is that the table for her is the same height as ours so she’s miles away from us all when at the table. This isn’t a problem with the Fisher Price 4 in 1 – obviously it will depend on the height of your table but for us this is perfect.
Overall thoughts on the Fisher Price 4 in 1 High Chair
Overall, we love this high chair and we’re still happy with our purchase over a year later. We love the ease of transition from each phase up to the next. We like that it has her favourite animals on it and it’s all really easy to clean. We’d definitely recommend this high chair.
