It was probably around the 9 month mark when my daughter grew out of her Tiny Love Rocker Napper and I was genuinely upset. I used the Rocker Napper for all her naps and she loved sleeping in it. Unfortunately she was just too big for it and I couldn’t risk leaving her in it now she could roll and crawl etc. In its bed form, an older baby would try and climb out and it just wasn’t safe anymore so had to go.
I was left with very limited options. I wanted something in the living room where she could nap that was bigger than a bouncer, the rocker napper or a moses basket.
By pure luck I managed to find a Fisher Price Infant to Toddler Rocker chair on Amazon. As far as I’m aware, this is the only (affordable) rocker/chair that’s suitable for heavier and older babies.
I was so happy and more than 4 months later and I’m still in love with this thing.
What is the Fisher Price Infant To Toddler Rocker?
It’s a larger version of a type of rocker chair for babies from infants right up to toddlers. It has a toy bar, a vibrate function and is very sturdy. There’s also a fold out front leg which reclines the chair for proper naps.
The weight limit is up to a whopping 18kg. That’s much higher than other chairs and rockers which usually cap out at around 9-10kgs. This is the main reason I purchased.
What makes the Fisher Price Infant To Toddler Rocker great?
There are a number of reasons I love this chair. The first has to be the generous weight limit. My daughter is just over one year old and loves this chair. I like the fact she can climb in and out of it herself. It’s like a real chair rather than a bouncer/rocker and she regularly takes a little sit down with a toy and chills in there throughout the day!
It’s sturdy enough for her to clamber around all over it and I don’t really worry about it tipping up or over etc. She often climbs in and out of the sides without the thing tipping which is great – obviously I discourage her from doing this but, hey, she’s one, she doesn’t listen.
I don’t use the toy bar because she’s too old for it really but I like the fact that it would have been great for her when she was younger too. I’ll definitely be using this from birth for our next baby. The seat itself is very comfortable and the cover is removable and washable which is ideal – not only from birth but for older babies who get food everywhere.
I literally love everything about this chair and I think it’s probably one of the only ones on the market that is suitable for older babies which is why I purchased it.
What makes the Fisher Price Infant To Toddler Rocker bad?
The only downside I can think of is the price. It is a little steep given that it doesn’t do much apart from vibrate and has a toy bar. You’d think for that price it’d have a little more to it. However, just for the plain fact that it’s super sturdy and my daughter literally loves getting in and out of it and having it as her own little chair makes the price worth it.
There are other products on the market that are far more expensive and do offer more in the way of “features” but that are really a waste of time in my view and this one is certainly not that. I’d spend the money again if I had to.
Overall, I’d say this is one of my best purchases. My daughter uses it every single day and we even take it with us when she stays for an afternoon at my mum and dads. It’s easy to move around and although it doesn’t fold up, it’s light enough to take with you if you’re off somewhere for the day. We recently took it to a music festival for the day and it was invaluable as a place for her to nap safely!
I seriously recommend this product if you’re looking for a chair or napper for an older baby.
